District of Devon and Cornwall District Meeting
 
You are of course wondering why a report as been posted on the website when after all we are supposed to be in recess. Well, a number of West Lancashire Allied Masons, seven to be precise, were in Plymouth. Two of the Brethren we enjoying a summer break on the English Riviera and the other five were in Plymouth to attend the Annual Meeting of District Grand Council. On the morning of Saturday 29th July 2017 we met in the Mount Edgcumbe Masonic Hall and had a welcome cup of tea/coffee. The weather outside was awful, an absolute downpour.
After the entry of the visiting Rt. W. District Grand Prefects, the Rt. W. District Grand Prefect for Devon and Cornwall and his District Officers entered in processional order.

The District Grand Prefect then opened District Grand Council. he then gave a warm welcome to the distinguished guests, including those from West Lancashire, and introduced them individually, W. Bro. Geoff Catterall P. G. J. D. / Dist. G. Sec., V. W. Br. Stuart Leach P. G. Reg., W. Bro. William Richmond G. J. D. / Dist G. Treas.  (Dep. Dist. G. P.  Des.) Bros. Andrew Bartlett and Bob Whittingham. Rt. W. Bro. Peter Brockbank although a West Lancashire Allied Mason was introduced as the District Grand Prefect  for Kent, and W. Bro. Ernie Gavan P. Dist G. J. W. / Dist. Swd. B.
With the introductions completed the  District Grand Prefect continued with the agenda by  Appointing and Investing  the District Officers for 2017/2018 and then addressing District Grand Council.

District Grand Council was then closed and The District Grand Prefect And his Officers retired in processional order.
After a pre-lunch drink we took our places for a delightful luncheon of salad which was most fitting for this time of year. (pity the weather didn't read the script).
When the few toasts were proposed and responses made that concluded our visit to Plymouth, and a good day was had by all.
